Founded by ex-Private Eye man Richard Ingrams, The Oldie is emphatically not a magazine about retirement. We recognise that what our readers want more than anything else is good writing and amusing articles on a wide variety of topics. It is for any independent-minded reader. Every month it brings you great writers such as Mavis Nicholson, Raymond Briggs, Ruth Rendell and Tom Stuttaford. As well as these and other equally famous and talented guests, there are contributions from people of whom you will not have heard. It is this unsolicited material - one reader's role in the sinking of the Scharnhorst, or the recounting of a chance meeting with Chuck Berry on a train - that makes it unique. Please note that The Oldie is published 13 times a year meaning a 12 issue subscription runs for 48 weeks
At Unique Magazines, we offer a subscription service that adapts to your needs, making it easy to cancel, swap, or get a refund. You can modify your subscription at any time, and we ensure all changes or refunds are processed efficiently and hassle-free.
It's cathartic for an oldie, like myself, to read people moaning on and on about how terrible things are nowadays. Also, I'm an Anglophile, and it educates me about Great Britain's past, especially concerning cultural references I'd find nowhere else.
This is better than I thought. There is so much to catch up on. Not forgetting the British humor. I think I made a good move.
